Jane Claire Hanson
September 28, 1925 - February 25, 2016Jane Claire Hanson, a daughter of Leroy and Mabel (McKim) Varnum, was born on September 28, 1925, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She spent her childhood years in the La Moille, Iowa, area where she attended school. In 1943, she graduated from Oak Park Academy in Nevada, Iowa.
Jane worked for one year as a bookkeeper before she married Wayne Hanson on June 4, 1944, in Marshalltown. Then, they lived in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, before finally making their home in Webb, Iowa, in 1960.
Jane enjoyed going for walks, gardening, feeding birds, playing dominos, and cheering on the Hawkeyes. She, also, enjoyed visiting with friends and family and was excited to prepare holiday meals. A member of the Hospital Auxiliary for thirty years, she spent many years as a Webb First Responder as well.
Jane passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Sioux Rapids at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dennis; her brother, Richard; and her sister, Miriam.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Wayne, of Webb, Iowa; four children, Kathy (Gary) Bollinger, of Lincoln, Nebraska, Carol (Warren) Toay, of Jud, North Dakota, Sue (Bryan) Harris, of Redmond, Washington, and Bruce (Tammy) Hanson of Webb, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, February 29, 2016, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Spencer, Pastor Kent Dunwoody officiating.
CASKET BEARERS: Drew Hoffmeyer, Reggie Bollinger, Eli Bollinger, Brett Toay, Kyle Smith, Sam Hanson.
HONORARY BEARERS: Benji Bollinger, Megan Hoffmeyer, Roddy Bollinger, Annie Hanson, Berkley Hanson, Jennifer Bollinger, Stephanie Bollinger.
VISITATION: Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 28th, with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
MUSIC: “In The Garden,” “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”
INTERMENT: Lone Tree Cemetery, Sioux Rapids, Iowa, at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 29, 2016, following the lunch at the church.
