November 21, 1925 - February 24, 1995Nell Mae Shold, 69, Albert City, died on Friday, February 24, 1995, in Sergeant Bluff.
Nell was born on November 21, 1925, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Samuel and Anna (McCubbin) Furlow. Baptized at the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas, she graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1943 and worked in retail sales. On December 4, 1943, she married Clifford Shold. To this union, four children were born. During the Second World War, they lived in Arkansas, Texas, and California but returned to Iowa when Clifford came home from overseas duty with the Army. After their house burned in 1977, Nell and Cliff moved into Albert City.
A member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Nell served as both pianist and organist and participated in the Covenant Women activities. In addition, she helped with a junior choir and joined the East Friendly Circle Club. She worked as an aid at the Pleasant View Home, and after receiving training, she became a certified nurse's aide at Pocahontas Hospital.
Preceded in death by her parents; a brother Earl; and a sister Susie, Nell is survived by her children Clifford, Jr., and Frankye Shold, of Brighton, Tennessee, Anna Mae and Peter Boemig, of Vernon, Vermont, and Daniel and Sue Shold, of Albert City; and two sisters Juanita Bjorklund, of Newell, and Oleta Huraer, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Services for Nell Mae Shold were held Wednesday, March 1, 1995, in the Evangelical Covenant Church, Albert City, Rev. Terry Mattson officiating. Burial followed in the Fairfield Township Cemetery, Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home, Albert City, was in charge of the rrangements.
