February 6, 1893 - July 2, 1993

Hilda Sophia Bloom, 100, of Albert City, died on Friday, July 2, 1993, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Hilda was born on February 6, 1893, in Wall Lake to Carl and Louise Carlson. When still a young girl, she moved with her family to a farm near Pender, Nebraska. There, she completed eight grades in a country school. She was a member of the Covenant Church, rural Pender.

Hilda married David Bloom on October 29, 1913, in Pender. To this union, five children were born. They farmed in the Pender area until 1918 when they moved to a farm near Concord, Nebraska. In 1938, they moved to their present home two and one-half miles north of Albert City.

A member of the Evangelical Free Church, Albert City, Hilda played an active role in her church until recent years. She, also, enjoyed belonging to the Golden Rule Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband — David Bloom, who died in 1972; a sister — Ottilia Johnson; and a brother — Oscar Carlson.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses — Harold and Lorraine Bloom, of Albert City, Herbert and Laura Bloom, of Lafayette, California, Clarence and Ethel Bloom, Marathon, Florence and Ivan Carlson, of Longville, Minnesota, and Vivian and Dean Sundblad, of Albert City; twenty grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Hilda Bloom were held Tuesday, July 6, 1993, in the Evangelical Free Church, Albert City, Pastor David VeenCamp officiating. Burial followed in the Fairfield Township Cemetery, Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home, Albert City, was in charge of the arrangements.
