Jon Anthony Mills, age 60, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, February 5, 2016, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Jon, a son of Charles and Rose (Brander) Mills, was born on August 14, 1955, in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Baptized in 1955 and later confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Jon attended grade school first at Hayes Township and then at St. Mary’s Catholic School. After graduating from Storm Lake High School In 1973, he continued his education at Western Iowa Tech. in Sioux City, Iowa, where he graduated in 1975. He, then, went on to own and operate M&M Small Engine Repair in Storm Lake.

On June 15, 1974, Jon married Sheila A. Hoft at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They were, subsequently, blessed with one son, Eric.

Outside of work, Jon enjoyed spending time at his cabin, fishing, and having coffee with his friends. Most of all, however, Jon loved his role as grandpa, spending time with his family. He will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sheila Mills, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his son, Eric Mills, also of Storm Lake, Iowa; his grandchildren, Karley, Dominic, and Hannah Mills; his mother, Rose Mills, of Lakeside, Iowa; and his sisters, Melinda Mills, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Kathleen Mills, of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Jaclyn (Scott) Eike, of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as extended family members and friends.

Jon was preceded in death by his father, Charles; his sister, Cynthia; both his paternal and maternal grandparents; and his mother- and father-in-law, Don and Sally Hoft.

A funeral mass will be offered on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 9, 2016, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m., all at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
