Lila J. Murray, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at her home in Storm Lake.

Lila Joyce Cleveland, a daughter of Charles Harvey and Grace Caroline (Norton) Cleveland, was born on February 12, 1928, in Sac County, Iowa. She attended grade school in Sac City, and later graduated from Hayes Township High School in 1946.

On February 7, 1950, Lila married Joseph J. Murray at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children: M. Linda, Terry, Michele, and Mark.

A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, she participated in the guild, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the quilting group.

Together with her husband, Joe, Lila loved to travel the world each winter. A talented seamstress and quilter, she, also enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives at her home. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to many.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Linda (Dan) Hopp, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Terry (Karen) Murray, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Michele Murray, of Lexington, Kentucky; her grandchildren: Robert (Wendy) Hopp, Elizabeth (Justin) Kennedy, Jill (Mike) Fetrow, Tony (Angelique) Murray, David (Sindy) Murray, Rebecca Murray (fiancé, Justin Jodoin), and Laura (Devin) Newell; fifteen great grandchildren; her brother, Marvin Cleveland, of Kansas City, Missouri; and her sister, Bonnie Zipf, of Sarasota, Florida; as well as extended family members and friends.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Mark; her brother, Melvin Cleveland; and her sister, Patsy White.

A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday, February 19, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday, February 18, 2016, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
