[March 2, 1911]* – April 1, 1985Helga M. Anderson, 74, of Albert City, died on April 1, 1985, at the Methodist Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota.
Baptized on July 20, 1911, Helga became a confirmed member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church on March 28, 1926. In 1929, she graduated from Lincoln-Lee High School and then from the Fort Dodge Business School in 1931. She was employed at the Teacher's Service Bureau, Storm Lake, and as a secretary in the law firm of White and White. Later, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she worked as a secretary in the business offices of Marshall Fields.
Helga married Ruben Anderson on December 24, 1935. To this union, two sons were born, Calvin, today an attorney at Decorah, and Stanley, who passed away in 1971.
For several years, Helga and Ruben made their home in Chicago. During the war years, they lived in Pasco, Washington, Terre Haute, Indiana, and St. Paul, Minnesota, as Ruben was employed in defense work. In 1946, they moved to the family farm east of Albert City. In 1961, Helga began working as a secretary to Attorney Fred Gilchrist, Jr., a position she held until she retired in 1974.
Helga was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where for many years, she taught Sunday school. She belonged to the Faith Unit of LCW.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one son, Stanley. Survivors include her husband, Ruben; her son, Calvin; her daughter-in-law, Betty; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Wilbur (Florence) Hanson, of Spirit Lake; two brothers, Carl and Hilmer Dahlstrom, of Albert City; three sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services for Helga Marie Anderson will be held on April 5, 1985, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Albert City, with the Rev. James Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairfield Township Cemetery under the direction of the Sliefert Funeral Home.
