Cindy Lou Halverson
December 15, 1956 - December 19, 2015Cindy Lou Halverson, age 59, of Linn Grove, Iowa, died on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at the Sanford Senior Care Center in Sheldon.
Cindy Lou Hollander, a daughter of Wilbert and LaVonne (Meyn) Hollander, was born on December 15, 1956, in Lake Benton, Minnesota. Baptized into the Lutheran faith, she attended school in Sheldon, Iowa, graduating from Sheldon High School in 1975.
On August 28, 1976, Cindy married Mark Halverson in Boyden, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with two daughters, Cassie and Sara. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove, she volunteered as a youth group leader, Praise Team member, and Bible School craft teacher. Together, she and Mark worked on the farm and raised their family.
Cindy enjoyed gardening, cooking, and canning. Because she had a special eye for flowers, she, also, worked as a florist, proudly arranging flowers for many family weddings. Very artistic, she enjoyed painting, drawing, and many other types of crafts as well. She, also, liked her many shopping and sister trips. In addition, she took many memorable trips with her husband, Mark, over the years. Most of all, however, Cindy deeply loved her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Mark Halverson, of Linn Grove; her children: Cassie (Trent) Gusso, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Sara (Chris) Legore, of Marion, Iowa; her mother, LaVonne Hollander, of George, Iowa; her grandchildren, Samuel and Callen Gusso and Evan, Lydia, and Natalie Legore; her sister, Sheryl (Warren) Tiedeman, of George, Iowa; her brothers, David Hollander, of George, Iowa, and Darren Hollander, of Boyden, Iowa; and her sister-in-law, Ruth (Walter Brettschneider) O'Neill; as well as extended family members and friends. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Wilbert.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Storm Lake. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 21, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
