Ronona Louise Baak, 85, of Omaha, Nebraska, previously of Newell, died on November 23, 2015, in her home.

Ronona was born on August 2, 1930, to William and Mary Otteman of Albert City. She graduated from Albert City High School and then attended the University of Iowa. Upon graduating in 1951, she traveled and began her career as a nurse. On June 13, 1954, she married Clifford Baak of Ricketts. The Baaks relocated to Newell in 1956, and Noni worked as a nurse at the Buena Vista Hospital in Storm Lake where she was honored to become the Director of Nurses. Together, she and Cliff raised a family.

Noni spent her life sharing. She shared laughter with her lifelong friends in the Newell community; she shared tenderness with her patients as a nurse; she shared compassion with her children and grandchildren, whom she taught the meaning of being loved, nurtured, and supported all the days of their lives; she shared an incredible legacy of belongingness, kindness, and integrity, which she leaves to those with whom she shared her life. With her children and grandchildren, she shared wisdom, empathy, and curiosity -- values that fill their hearts with gladness. She, continually, encouraged her loved ones to seek happiness and follow their passions. In her life, she found such profound joy in being surrounded by her family, being an active member of her community, and working in her garden.

She is preceded in death by Clifford Baak, to whom she was married for sixty years. She is survived by a family that cherishes her memory dearly: Jonathan Baak, of Houston, Texas, Timothy, and his wife, Tracy Baak, of Newell, Iowa, and Nancy Movall, and her partner, Tom Whalen, of Yutan, Nebraska; and seven grandchildren: Matthew Movall, and his wife, Erin, of Chicago, Illinois, Mindy and Mary Baak, both of Houston, Texas, Kacie, and her husband, Joe Fisher, of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Michael Movall, of Chicago, Illinois, Nikki, and her husband, Jeff Hogue, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Spencer Baak, also of Gold Canyon Arizona, -- who lovingly knew her as Nonnie.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
