Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Friday Oct 3, 1919 - Hannah Wood Crawford was born September 10, 1849 at Kankeekee, Canada. She left Canada with her parents when about eighteen years of age, and the family settled near Genoa, Illinois.

While living in Genoa she was married to W.H. Crawford in 1872. After living there for some time the family moved to Iowa and settled in Buena Vista county near Rembrandt.

To this union were born nine children, one of whom died in infancy. Three children, Boyd, Grace, and Fred, predeceased her to the better land, and five children are still living: Ernest of Elk, Washington; John of Los Angeles; California; Laura of Parshall, N.D.; Claire of Storm Lake; and Mrs. Hazel Edwards of Storm Lake, in whose home the mother has resided for some time and from whence she passed away on September 24 at eight thirty o'clock in the evening.

The husband died August 19, 1910, and was buried at Genoa, Illinois, where the body of Mrs. Crawford will also be interred.

Mrs. Crawford gave her heart to Christian young womanhood, joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, and on moving to Iowa transferred her membership to the Storm Lake Methodist church and adorned the doctrines of Christ, her savior, with a beautiful and consistent life. She was a true mother and a woman of rich Christian experience. Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord.
