Storm Lake Pilot Tribune Thursday - August 25, 1910 page 1 - Friends of the W.H. Crawford family were greatly shocked on last Friday to receive word that Mr Crawford had passed away at 10:45 the night before.

Until the past few days it had not been generally known that he was sick even these did know that his condition was particularly serious. His death removes a man who appeared to be in the prime of life and one who was a man all through.

William Henry Crawford, son of Alexander and Laura Crawford, was born in Genoa, Illinois, July 29, 1865 and died on last Thursday night August 18, 1910. He was married to Hannah Wood at Genoa, November 28, 1878, who sorrowfully survives him.

They were the parents of six children: Grace dying at the age of thirteen years, while Earnest R of St James, Minn., John W., Clarence W., Laura E. and Hazel G. survive their father.

They moved from Genoa, Illinois, ten years ago locating on a farm in Washington township where Mr. Crawford died. Some four months ago he became indiposed, but nothing serious was apprehended for some time. A week before his death serious complications took place, weakening his vital forces and causing him very great suffering, which he bore with Christian fortitude. He realized his condition and said that he was willing to go as he had made peace with his creator.

Mr. Crawford was a good citizen in everything that the term implies. He was a man of the best habits of mind and body, devoted to home and family and a hardworking intelligent farmer who was succeeding. He was an active member of the local lodge of Odd Fellows and the Modern Woodmen among whom he was held in the highest esteem, as he was with all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church Saturday afternoon at 4:30, conducted by the Rev Nathaniel Pye D.D. The remains were taken back to the old home at Genoa, Ill., for interment. This newspaper extends sympathy to the sadly bereft family.
