Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - February 3, 1922 - R Manson Ash, Civil war veteran and resident of Storm Lake for many years, died Thursday evening, January 10 at the home of his daughter Mrs Grace Foster in Marshalltown while on a furlough from the soldiers home in that city. Heart disease was the cause.

Mr Ash entered the home from Storm Lake October 3, 1896. He was a native of Lisbon, NH where he was born January 16, 1838. He enlisted in Co I third New Hampshire Infantry August 14, 1862 at Lisbon and was discharged at Smithville, NC June 15, 1865.

Mrs C.W. Foster is the only member of the family that survives.

Funeral services were held at the assembly hall of the soldiers home. The body was shipped to Lisbon, NH for burial.
