July 23, 1915 - Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Mrs. Delphine Joray, widow of the late Frank Joray, died at the family residence in this city at an early hour on Friday morning, July 16.
Mrs. Joray submitted to a serious surgical operation on February 28, 1915, from which she never recovered. She has since been gradually failing and the shock of her husband's death which occurred just three months and ten days before her departure from this life, no doubt hastened the end.
Louisville, Ohio, was the birth place of Delphine M. Beuchaw on November 6, 1859. When one year of age she moved with her parents to Ironton, Wis. At this place she was married on October 29, 1878 to Frank Joray and came immediately to Storm Lake, where she lived continuously until her death.
To this union were born five children, two sons Frank Henry and Herbert Lee, who died in infancy, and three daughters: Rosalie, Mrs. Lillie M. Bram, and Nora Violet, who are left to mourn the departure of a loving and devoted mother. She also is survived by two sisters, five brothers, and one grandchild.
The funeral services were held in the Lakeside Presbyterian church on Monday morning at ten o'clock conducted by Rev. T.A. Ambler. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the Lake View cemetery.
Those attending the services from out of town were Mrs. Arnold Girard of Madison, Kansas, a sister; Mr. and Mrs. O.E. Rogers of Dunlap; Mrs. J.A. Nelson and Mrs. F.H. Rostwick of Fort Dodge; Jacob Bram of Renwick, Iowa and Mrs. S. Hughes of Mallard, Iowa.
For nearly forty years Mrs. Joray has lived in Storm Lake and in her death is removed another of the real pioneers of this city. She played her part in local affairs to which women lend their interest and enthusiasm and performed well the duties of homemaker, wife and mother.
The three daughters, who are left, to sorely miss her sweet companionship have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.
