Sephrina Jorey
[July 9, 1824]- September 17, [1903]

September 25, 1903 - Storm Lake Buena Vista Vidette - Mrs. Sephrina Jorey died at the home of her son Amil, Saturday, September 17, [1903], at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 8 days.

Sephrina Odiet was born July 1, 1824, in Switzerland. She was married in the spring of 1850 and shortly afterwards came to this country, settling in New York.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs Jorey, five of whom Oscar, Frank, Amil, Henry and Joe are living. One little girl died when about five years old.

When the civil war broke out Mr. Jorey answered the call of his country, and while in service was wounded, dying at a hospital.

In April 1882, in company with her children and brother, Desra? Odiet, Mrs. Jorey came to Storm Lake. She and her brother continued to live together as the children grew up and one by one sought homes of their own. In 1899 Desra? died, and Mrs. Jorey has since lived with her son Amil.

Three boys Amil, Oscar and Frank all live in Storm Lake and were with their mother at the time of her death. The other two, Joe and Henry live at Atchison, Kansas, arrived Tuesday to attend the funeral which was conducted Wednesday by Rev. Father Henesay. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery attended by a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends who thus manifested tribute of respect to the departed one.
