April 11, 1934 - July 26, 2015Betty L. Peck, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake.
Betty Lou Lynch, a daughter of Howard and Catherine (Schierneck) Lynch, was born on April 11, 1934, in Battle Creek, Iowa. Baptized and confirmed at the Methodist church in Ida Grove, she attended grade school at Ida Grove and graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1953.
On February 14, 1955, Betty married Raymond (Bud) Peck at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with six children: LuAnn, Raenette, Penny, Timothy, Tammie, and Tony.
Always a hard worker, Betty began as a waitress and grocery clerk. Then, she moved to Storm Lake and began working for a lumber yard. Moreovefr, she, really, enjoyed her years working for Iowa Turkey Express and Fiedler Trucking as a bookkeeper and dispatcher.
A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Betty served on the Guild. She also volunteered as a Brownie Leader.
In her spare time, Betty enjoyed BINGO, sewing, and crocheting. She could play Skip-Bo and talk on the phone for hours. She loved music and sang at many weddings as well as other gatherings. Every song was her “favorite.” In her younger days, Betty and Bud loved dancing at the Cobblestone in Storm Lake and the Lakewood Ballroom in Lake View. Most of all, however, Betty loved spending time with her family and friends, especially with her dog, Sally. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: LuAnn (Bud) Hott, of Newell, Iowa, Raenette (Larry) Marshall, of Rochester, Minnesota, and Tony (Kirsten) Peck, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her grandchildren: Chanda Hott, of Bloomington, Illinois, Kelly (Aaron) Brock, of Tustin, California, Nathan Hott, of Iowa City, Iowa, Jaden (Erica) Peck, of Perth, New York, and Devin Peck, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her great-grandchildren: Noah, Cameron, and Bayla Brock, of Tustin, California; and Tony, Kylie, Jacob, and Jaxon Peck, of Perth, New York; her sisters-in-law: Berniece Henke, of Cherokee, Iowa, Katie Letts, of Cherokee, Iowa, and Lois Peck, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and her brother-in-law, Bob (Kathy) Peck, of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as extended family members and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Peck; her infant children: Penny, Timothy, and Tammie; her brother, Delas Lynch; and her sisters, Marsh Haakinson and Kay Klein.
A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday, July 31, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday, July 30, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 5:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., all at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
