April 3, 1898 - September 21, 1989

Services for Leonard C. Johnson, 91, Storm Lake, will be held 10:30 a.m., Sept. 23 at Jones-Barker Funeral Home, Alta. Pomegranate Lodge No. 408, Alta, will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Alta. Jones-Barker Funeral Home, Alta, is in charge of arrangements.
He died Sept. 21, 1989, in Buena Vista Manor, Storm Lake.
Leonard was born April 3, 1898, to Swan and Gustava (Magnusson) Johnson in Alta. He received his education in Breckenridge, Minn., and Alta. He continued his education in Nettleton Business College, Sioux City. He married Esther Johnson on Jan. 15,1919, in Sioux City. She died in 1958. He married Irene Lange on July 26, 1961, in South Sioux City, Neb. She died Feb. 22, 1989. He farmed for 41 years in the Alta area. He also did carpentry work before retiring in 1965.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two wives; two sons — Leonard and Robert; five brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include two stepsons —- LeRoy Lange, Georgetown, Calif.; and Melvin Lange, Las Vegas, Nev.; four stepdaughters — Janice (Mrs. Harold) Redcnbaugh, Storm Lake; Valeria (Mrs. William (Tutt), Storm Lake; Judith (Mrs. James) Yager, Tualatin, Ore.; and Melinda (Mrs. Richard) Cress, Bloomington, Minn.; one daughter in- law — Mrs. Madlion Johnson, Alathe, Kan.; six grandchildren — Cheryl Johnson; Gavle (Mrs. Ham) Lyon; Kathy (Mrs.'Terrv) Smith; Deborah (Mrs. Craig) Mills; Susan (Mrs. Jim) Holler;" and Clifford Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; 18 step grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.
