Scott F. Grote, age 56, of Linn Grove, Iowa, died on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at his home in Linn Grove.

Scott Floyd Grote was born on August 20, 1958, in Algona, Iowa, a son of Gary and Wanda (Henley) Grote. He grew up in the Sioux Rapids area, graduating from Sioux Rapids High School in 1976.

On December 9, 1978, Scott married Lori Rosa. Subsequently, they were blessed with two sons, Travis and Aaron.

Scott was a long-time member of the Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Linn Grove. He, also, spent most of his life working as a carpenter.

Scott coordinated the 4-H shooting sports and coached baseball for many years. Active in the community as well, he volunteered for Pheasants Forever and the Special Youth Challenge.

Scott loved the outdoors. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and shooting. In addition, he enjoyed instructing the youth in archery. Most of all, however, Scott loved his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a caring son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Wanda Grote, of Sioux Rapids; his children, Travis (Melissa) Grote, of Webb, Iowa, and Aaron Grote (Monica Schneider), of Linn Grove, Iowa; his grandchildren, Tyler and Logan Grote and Noah Schooley, all of Webb, Iowa; his brother, David (Katie) Grote, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and his sisters: Becky (Bill) Burke, of Des Moines, Iowa, Michelle (Don) Morgan, of Richmond Dale, Ohio, and DeeDee Hempfling, of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as extended family members and many friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Gary Grote.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Linn Grove. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
