Beverly Zahrt Jeppeson
February 25, 1931 - October 13, 2014

Beverly Mae (Zahrt) Jeppeson was born on February 25, 1931, to Fred William and Rachel (Roberts) Zahrt in Rossie, Iowa. In 1948, she graduated from Greenville-Rossie High School where she had actively participated in all sports and musical activities. Singing and tap-dancing professionally at the age of five, she demonstrated her love for dance and music early in her life.

Beverly met the love of her life, Merl Jeppeson, at a high school music contest. After spending one year at the University of Northern Iowa, Merl and Beverly married on September 18, 1949, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. They, subsequently, lived near Rossie where they farmed. Along with helping with the farm chores, Beverly earned a degree in Elementary Education from Buena Vista College in 1968 and a Master’s in Educational Administration from Drake University in 1986. Teaching in the Clay Central-Everly School District for forty-two years, she helped make a difference in the lives of her elementary students. Professionally, she participated actively in the NEA and the ISEA as well as with the 4-H leadership. A member of the United Methodist Church in Spencer, Iowa, she moved into Spencer after Merl's death. In her retirement, she loved spending time with her family and friends, golfing, boating, and sipping coffee at her cottage on West Lake Okoboji.

Beverly passed away peacefully at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer on October 13, 2014, at the age of 83 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merl Duane Jeppeson, in 1980; an infant son, Lonnie Duane Jeppeson; four brothers and one sister: Fred Zahrt, Jr., Darwin Zahrt, Roger Zahrt, Gary Zahrt, and Suzanne Edington.

A wonderful sister, mother and grandmother, Beverly will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
