Hazel Freeman
July 30, 1924 - October 25, 2014Hazel Irene Freeman, a daughter of Lloyd and Alta (Larsen) McCannon was born on July 30, 1924, in Royal, Iowa. She received her education at the Linn Grove School, graduating in 1942.
Hazel married Harry Freeman on January 24, 1946, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in the Webb area until 1981 when they moved into Webb. In 1996, Hazel moved to Spencer, Iowa. An active member of the Webb Methodist Church for thirty years, she had served as-president of WSCS and as Circle leader. Later, she joined Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.
Hazel passed away at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry, on January 4, 1986; and one sister, Ivy.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Lyle, and his wife, Susan, of Glenburn, North Dakota; two daughters, Doris Theil, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Karen Sorenson, and her husband, Ervin, of Dickens, Iowa; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Freeman, of Apopka, Florida, and Marvel Frederick, of Spencer, Iowa; and one brother, Donald Richardson, and his wife, Beverly, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; as well as other relatives and friends.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the Service at the church.
SERVICES: 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer, Pastor Len Halvorson, officiating.
CASKET BEARERS: Larry Myers, Carl Simons, Charles Anderson, Dwayne Freeman, John Freeman, Jerry Enderton.
MUSIC: Congregational Hymns: "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" and "How Great Thou Art."
INTERMENT: North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established in Hazel’s memory.
