Robert "Bob" Strock
December 14, 1931 - June 11, 2014Robert “Bob” Strock, Sr., age 82, of Alta, Iowa, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Country Side Estates in Cherokee, Iowa.
Robert Strock, Sr., was born on December 14, 1931, in Storm Lake, Iowa, a son of Clarence and Anna (Schuler) Strock. Baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Truesdale, Iowa, he attended school in Truesdale, graduating from Truesdale High School. Then, he started farming.
On August 31, 1952, Bob married Ruth Marie Lullman at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with three children: Robert, Jr., Steven, and James.
On December 2, 1952, Bob enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Alaska. After having served his country during the Korean Conflict, he was honorably discharged on November 10, 1954.
A member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta, Bob served as an elder.
Bob had a passion for the outdoors and farming. In his spare time, he enjoyed meeting with his coffee group. Bob greatly valued his family and treasured the time he was able to spend attending their events. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Steven Strock and Jim (Jeannie) Strock, all of Alta, Iowa; his grandchildren, Lindsey Strock, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Kaylee Strock, of West Des Moines, Iowa; and his sisters-in-law, Darlene Armstrong, of Truesdale, Iowa, and Barb Howeth Strock, of Round Rock, Texas; as well as many nieces; nephews; extended family members; and many friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Strock; his son, Robert Strock, Jr.; his parents, Clarence and Anna Strock; his brother, Duane Strock, and one sister, Arlene Corbin.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 12, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with the family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
