Williard “Bill” Dean Reining, son of Michael and Roxi (Bradshaw) Reining, was born in Curlew, Iowa, on April 15, 1927. Having lived his youth and received his education in Curlew, he faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II between June 4, 1945, and his honorable discharge on July 10, 1946.

On April 15, 1951, Bill married Beverly Walsh at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Their union was blessed with two daughters: Cynthia and Linda. Following their marriage, Bill and Beverly farmed north of Linn Grove. Dedicated to farming, Bill managed that farm until August of 2010 when he made his home at the Sioux Care Center. In addition, Bill worked at Wetherell’s doing tiling and, for several years, on oil wells in Wyoming. Moreover, he assisted Cal Hayenga with his farming operation in South Dakota.

Bill was a proud member of the Linn Grove American Legion for sixty-one years. He and Beverly enjoyed taking drives around the countryside. They, especially, loved to visit the dam at Linn Grove and watch the fishermen there. In addition, he loved his grandchildren, and he enjoyed spending time with them and following their activities.

Bill’s life is honored and celebrated by his family which includes his daughters: Cynthia (Steven) Ruhs, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Linda Hayenga, of Linn Grove, Iowa; his grandchildren: Alyssa Ruhs, and her fiancé, Dustin Rinnert, of Ames, Iowa, Michael (Sarah) Ruhs, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Ryan Ruhs, of Orlando, Florida, and Billy Hayenga, also of Orlando, Florida; as well as other extended family members and friends.
