Thelma E. Sherwood, age 81, of Alta, passed away on Tuesday, August 06, 2013, at her residence in Alta.
Thelma was born on December 13, 1931, to Harold and Thelma Davis. After graduating from Alta High School in 1949, she married Gene Sherwood in 1951. They enjoyed forty-two years of married life together. With both family and friends, they became avid golfers and bowlers. Thelma attended Hope Evangelical Free Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene; two brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her five children, Tim (Lauren) Sherwood, of Denver, Colorado, Mike (Judy) Sherwood, of Webster City, Iowa, Mark (Deb) Sherwood, of Waterloo, Iowa, Wendy (Land) White, of Longmont, Colorado, and Melissa (Jon) Kulp, of Pocahontas, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dale Davis, of Alta, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 09, 2013, at 10:30 AM at the Hope Evangelical Free Church of Storm Lake with the Rev. James W. Roland officiating. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery of Alta. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 08, 2013, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta.
