Erma E. Anderson
November 13, 1919 - July 3, 2013

Erma E. Anderson, age 93, of Albert City, Iowa, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.

Erma Elizabeth Anderson, the daughter of John August and Annie Elizabeth (Johanson) Anderson was born on a farm near Albert City, Iowa, on November 13, 1919. Because of her frail health, she was baptized on November 15, 1919. Later confirmed in the Lutheran faith on July 7, 1935, she lived her youth and received her education at Albert City, graduating from the 8th grade.

For a while, Erma worked as a housekeeper for her neighbors as well as in the Anderson Grocery Store in Albert City. Starting in 1948, however, she began a thirty year career as the financial secretary of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. In addition, she also served as the treasurer for the local school board and as the secretary for the Albert City Chamber of Commerce. In recognition of her outstanding dedication to the betterment of Albert City, the mayor proclaimed Sunday, May 20, 1979, as “Erma Anderson Day.” Since March 21, 2008, Erma had made her home at the Pleasant View Home.

A faithful and devoted member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City, Erma, in addition to her secretarial duties, taught Sunday School for many years. Serving as a prayer warrior for missions as well, she, indeed, touched many lives.

Erma’s many hobbies and talents included feeding the birds, taking care of many cats, enjoying coffee with the “girls”, and helping with clubs within the church, preparing prayer calendars, year books, programs, and special announcements. Erma will be remembered by her family and friends as an especially kind lady so very friendly to everyone. Always helpful, she also appreciated everything anyone did for her.

Erma is survived by her relatives and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.

Blessed be the memory of Erma Elizabeth Anderson.
