Caroline A. Bannister, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died July 20, 2013, at the North Lake Manor in Storm Lake.

Caroline Ann McCulla was born on September 28, 1930, in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Anna (Thiel) McCulla. She was baptized at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake.

Growing up, Caroline attended school in Spirit Lake, graduating from Spirit Lake High School in 1949. Then, she attended Buena Vista College where she graduated in 1952.

On October 26, 1952, Caroline married Charles Lloyd Bannister at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. They were blessed with seven children: Jane Ann, Lloyd, David, Charlene, Teresa, Alice, and Melissa.

Caroline was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Storm Lake and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, and watching soap operas. She loved her family and especially enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. She also liked going out to eat and to have coffee with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Lloyd and David (Shanda) Bannister, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Charlene (Jeffrey) Ulrich, of Fonda, Iowa, Teresa Handy (special friend, Mike Noe), of Ruthven, Iowa, Alice (Bob) Spooner, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Melissa Bannister, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Whitney Bannister; Shanda, Brandi (Cody), and Ricky Handy; Justin (Nancy) Howard; Joshua (Bridget) and Tara Peters; Charlie (Jennifer) and Jonathon (Jami) Spooner; Jessica (Jeff) Thompson; Autumn Ulrich; and Miranda (Nick) Winkleman; and her great grandchildren: Braeton Halverson; Katelyn and Kylene Howard; Elianna and Nickolas Peters; Aiden Scott; Haylea Spencer; Jacob, Kaylee, Isabell, and Dante Spooner; Madelynn and Aleczander Thompson; Avery and Dominique Winkleman; and an unborn great granddaughter, Karlyna; as well as extended family members and friends.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Bannister; her daughter, Jane Ann Bannister; her son-in-law, Artis Lathan; and two brothers, Robert and Tomas McCulla.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., July 22, 2013, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., July 23, 2013, at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: 3:00 p.m., July 23, 2013, at the Lake View Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
