Marvin Lyle Erichsen
July 28, 1921 - March 25, 2013Marvin Lyle Erichsen, the son of Henry and Erma (Braasch) Erichsen, was born on July 28, 1921, in Rembrandt, Iowa. He spent his childhood years on a farm near Rembrandt where he received his education, graduating from Rembrandt High School. Following his schooling, he entered the military in 1943 and served with the U.S. Air Force as a pilot on the B-29 aircraft, flying oversees until his honorable discharge in 1946.
Marvin married Lorraine Adeline Miller on July 2, 1944, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Following their marriage, Marvin was stationed in Des Moines, Iowa, and Denver, Colorado, until the end of his military career. He and Adeline, then, moved to a farm north of Everly to begin farming. In 1949, they moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, where they continued farming. In 1961, they moved to a farm near Hartley where they farmed until they retired in 1987 after which they moved into town. Marvin was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. He was also active with the Arthur W. Kirchoff Post #288 in Hartley.
Marv passed away at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa, on Monday, March 25, 2013, at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine, in 2007; one brother, Harold; and one sister, Maxine McCabe.
Those left to cherish his memory include his three sons and their wives: Thomas and Karolyn Erichsen, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Keith and Tina Erichsen, of Toronto, Canada, and Alan and Lori Erichsen, of Hartley, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two brothers: Floyd Erichsen (Allene), of Des Moines, Iowa, and Darrel (Darlene) Erichsen, of Marysville, Washington; as well as other relatives and friends.
