November 27, 1930 - March 5, 2013Hubert C. McClary, Jr., 82, of Jefferson, Iowa, formerly of Albert City, Iowa, died on March 5, 2013.
Hubert Clayton McClary, Jr., was born on November 27, 1930, in rural Stanton County, Nebraska. He was confirmed in the Theophilus Church and graduated from Winside High School in Winside, Nebraska, in 1948. After graduation he helped his dad with farming.
In January 1952, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Alaska for two years during the Korean War. On June 2, 1956, he married Violet Evelyn Baker. They had five children: Gregg, Perry, Brenda, Brian, and Darren.
Hubert farmed in Nebraska near Winside, Wayne, and Ponca until 1975. In 1976, he moved to an acreage near Albert City, Iowa. He loved farming and caring for animals of all kinds.
Hubert is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Violet McClary, of Jefferson; his children: Gregg (Sandy) McClary, of Laurel, Nebraska, Perry (Sharon) McClary, of Malvern, Brenda (Marty) Brewer, of Jefferson, Brian (Debbie) McClary, of Chandler, Arizona, and Darren (Crystal) McClary, of Parker, South Dakota; his grandchildren: Jeremy and Emily Brewer; Amber, Ashley, Andrea, Adam, Bethany, Rebekah, Lydia, Samuel, Josiah, Susanna, Mark (Chloe), Travis, and Leah McClary; and two great-granddaughters: Kasaundra Scott and Elli McClary; his brothers: Duane McClary, of Barnard, Kansas, Neil (Wanda) McClary, of Meadow Grove, Nebraska, and Keith (Cathy) McClary, of Norfolk, Nebraska; and a brother-in-law, Norman Jeppsen, of Wakefield, Nebraska; as well as by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m., Friday, March 8, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson, pastors Kim Dewey of the Rembrandt United Methodist Church and Julie Poulsen of the Jefferson First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Wright Cemetery, Greene County, with Military Honors by the Iowa Army National Guard Honor Guard. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., Friday, at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson.
