Ernest Paul Hansen
[July 10, 1922]*- November 12, 2012

Ernest Paul Hansen passed away suddenly, but peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 12, 2012, at the age of 90 at the Sky Ridge Medical Center.

Paul was one of seven children born to Ernest and Myrtle Hansen in Dickens. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and best friend known for his kindness and positive attitude, he was always bringing a smile to everyone’s face.

Paul married Frances Elaine Herrig on September 5, 1942. At the age of 21, he enlisted in the Navy. On his return, he began his career in the agricultural field while living in Storm Lake. With his brother, he formed the Ferma Gro Company, which dealt in feed additives. After working in agriculture for thirty years, he retired to Venice, Florida. There, the family owned a travel agency and had the opportunity to travel extensively.

Paul spent many hours volunteering on several boards including the Grace Methodist Church Board and Loveland Center Board. After the family moved to Sarasota, he served on the Happiness House Board and Glenridge Retirement Board. He received certificates of contribution for his fifty years in the Masonic order and his fifty years as a Shriner. He also received the Paul Harris award in Rotary. He leaves a magnificent legacy, enriching the lives of those who knew him. He will be profoundly missed but will be held deeply in our hearts.

Paul is survived by Frances, his wife of 70 years; his three daughters, Mary (Gary) Birdsell, Rebecca (Lewis) Kling, and Elizabeth (James) Firebaugh; and his eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren whom he cherished and always encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to: Wounded Warrior Project, 1 South Nevada Avenue, #205, Colorado Springs, CO 80903, www.woundedwarriorproject.org or to: St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 9203 South University Blvd., Highlands Ranch, CO. 80126, www.st-andrew-umc.com

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 9203 South University Boulevard, in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
