Margaret A. Flohr, age 91, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died October 18, 2012, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Margaret Ann Mills was born on July 9, 1921, in Greenville, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis Edgar and Myrtle (LaRue) Mills. Growing up, she attended school in Greenville, graduating from Greenville Consolidate School in 1938. Following high school graduation, she attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for two years. As a sophomore at Buena Vista College, she was the 1939 Homecoming Queen.

On September 25, 1940, Margaret married Kenneth Lyle Flohr in Sioux City, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Linda Ann, Thomas James, and Janis Kay.

A member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Margaret was very active in various circles. She also belonged to PEO Chapter EP, the Elks Lodge, the Kiwanis Kweens, the Lake Creek Country Club, and the Hospital Auxiliary.

Margaret loved nature, especially growing roses and listening to the birds sing. She also always enjoyed dancing with her husband at the Cobblestone Ballroom. An avid bridge player, she became a Silver Life Master in Duplicate Bridge. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and Europe. Margaret and Ken enjoyed many years of retirement in Weslaco, Texas. She loved her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Thomas Flohr, of Sioux City, Iowa, and Janis Flohr Heuberger, of Northbrook, Illinois; her grandchildren: Michael Todd Flohr, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Rebecca (Tim) Potter, of Wichita, Kansas, James (Shannon) Hall, of Wichita, Kansas, Adam Kenneth Flohr, of Omaha, Nebraska, Lisa Heuberger, of Chicago, Illinois, and Allison Heuberger, of Northbrook, Illinois; four great grandchildren: Madeleine Potter and Olivia, Maya, and James Hall III; and her sister-in-law, Irene Flohr Barels, of Indianapolis, Indiana; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lyle Flohr; her daughter, Linda Ann Flohr; her brothers: Dean, Vernon, and Roger Mills; and her sisters: Helen Sproul, Ruth Nelson, and Virginia Tymeson.

Memorial gifts may be made to the United Methodist Church of Storm Lake in memory of Margaret Ann Flohr.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m., October 21, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., October 22, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: 12:00 p.m., October 22, 2012, at the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
