Denise A. Wise, age 54, of Linn Grove, Iowa, died October 1, 2012, at her home in Linn Grove.

Denise Ann Wise, the daughter of Darlene (Hughes) Wise, was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on July 16, 1958. She spent her lifetime in Linn Grove. After graduating from Sioux Valley High School in 1976, she continued her education at the Spencer School of Business.

For the past twenty-three years, Denise worked as a bookkeeper at PSA, Inc. in Alta. The proud mother of a daughter, Kris Wise, she belonged to the First United Church of Sioux Rapids.

Denise had a special passion for helping out in her community wherever she was needed. Volunteering with Special Youth Challenge (SYC), for example, she had the responsibility of managing SYC’s website. Denise was also blessed with many talents that included making soaps and lotions and sewing. Always working in an asparagus patch, family and friends will remember her for her pickled asparagus. She also loved taking care of her nephew, Jake. She always looked forward to going on her “sister-in-law’s vacations and weekends.”

Denise’s life is being remembered and celebrated by her family which includes her daughter, Kris Wise, and her husband, William Alexander, of Wichita, Kansas; her mother, Darlene Wise, of Linn Grove, Iowa; her six brothers: Dennis (Brigitte) Wise, of Heltersburg, Germany, Dwain (Karen) Wise, of Sweet Home, Oregon, Emmett (Marlene) Wise, of Defiance, Iowa, Randy Wise, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Jim (Deb) Wise, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Mickey Wise, of Peterson, Iowa; and her sister, Lori (James) Carlson, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; her special nieces and nephews: Thomas, Michael, Melissa, Kim, Lisa, Josh, Jake, Matthew, Amy, Ethan, and Arielle; as well as other extended family members and her many friends from her work and throughout the area.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Denise’s memory to SYC.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church where the family will be present the entire time. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
