Melvin Pudenz, age 60, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died October 1, 2012, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, Iowa.
Melvin Elmer Pudenz was born on September 15, 1952, in Carroll, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Bernetta (Naberhaus) Pudenz. On September 21, 1952, he was baptized at St. Columbkille’s Catholic Church in Varina, Iowa, where he was later confirmed on May 3, 1959.
Growing up, he attended Our Lady of Good Council Catholic School in Fonda, graduating in 1970. He, then, attended Iowa Lakes Community College where he graduated in 1972.
On September 17, 1983, Melvin married Cynthia Stoneking at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. They were blessed with two children, Christine and Brandon.
Melvin loved to help on the family farm. He worked as a service manager at Hultgren Gerlach for thirty years. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling. Melvin treasured his family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Cindy Pudenz, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children: Christine Pudenz and Brandon Pudenz, also of Storm Lake; his mother, Bernetta Pudenz, of Pocahontas, Iowa; his brothers: Ronald (Carolyn) Pudenz and Ralph Pudenz, both of Pocahontas, Iowa; his sisters: Marita Wile, of Minburn, Iowa, and Patricia (Karl) Hollman, of Burnside, Iowa, as well as extended family members and many friends.
Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Pudenz; his brother-in-law, Rick Wile; and his niece, Valerie Hollman.
Visitation: 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m., October 04, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m., October 05, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Vigil Service: 7:00 p.m., October 04, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Interment: October 05, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
