Dorothy T. Meister, age 86, of Marathon, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012, at her home in Marathon.

Born on December 6, 1925, at Laurens, Iowa, Dorothy Theresa Grund was the daughter of Joseph and Franziska Deutsch Grund. After attending Ware Consolidated School, she graduated from Marathon High School in 1944 before going on to secretarial school in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1948, Dorothy married Harold Meister. She worked as a secretary at Hakes Foods in Laurens and later as a production worker for Bilmar Foods in Storm Lake before retiring in 1995.

Dorothy was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Laurens. She enjoyed playing the accordion and Spicy Farkle as well as collecting beanie babies with her grandchildren. She traveled to Texas and Chicago where she enjoyed spending time with her sons.

Survivors include her children, Steve Meister, of Marathon; Leroy Meister, of Webb; Dan Meister, of Marathon; Angie (Joe) McKenna, of Storm Lake, and Frank Meister, of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren, Samantha, Josh, and Joel McKenna and Daniel and Diana Meister; three great-grandchildren, Demetri Meister, Ava Meister, and Emma Meister; her brothers, Lewis Grund, of Northwood, and John Grund, of Emmons, Minnesota; her sister, Betty Grund, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and her special friends, Jeff Yerro, Angie Wheeler, Sylvia Burns, and Zoe. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Melvin and Bill Grund.
