Alice May Hill, age 87, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died October 4, 2012, at Wel-Life in Alta, Iowa.
Alice May Stanzel was born on December 9, 1924, in Sac County, Iowa, the daughter of Barnabas C. and Bertha F. (Grace) Stanzel. She was baptized and confirmed as a child.
Alice grew up in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, graduating from Sioux Rapids High School in 1942.
On April 6, 1946, Alice married Dale L. Hill at home in Sioux Rapids. They were blessed with four children: Dorla, Duane, Joe, and Jane.
Alice worked as a bookkeeper for many years. After she and Dale started Hill Dental Lab in 1946, she kept the books. She also worked at Lane Moore Lumber Company for thirty-six years. When the business was sold, she retired and then worked at Stille, Pierce and Pertzborn until she retired the second time.
Alice was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and baking. She was especially known for her chocolate chip cookies.
Alice loved spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Dorla Hill, of Coralville, Iowa, Duane Hill, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Joe Hill, of Alta, Iowa, and Jane Hill, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her sister, Marjorie (Mrs. Jared) Fairchild; and her brother, Donald D. Stanzel; as well as extended family and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Barnabas C. and Bertha F. Stanzel; her husband, Dale; her brothers: Gerald, Kenneth, and Robert; and her sister, Mildred Filloon.
Visitation: 1:00 p.m., October 08, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., October 08, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Interment: October 08, 2012, at Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.
