November 25, 1949 - September 23, 2012Scott C. Blakeley, age 62, of Cherokee, Iowa, died on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital at Sioux City, Iowa.
Scott Cameron Blakeley, the son of Roy and Maxine Lantz Blakeley, was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on November 25, 1949. He lived his youth in Des Moines where he graduated from East High School.
On December 11, 1970, Scott married Mary Reid in Polk County, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Matthew, Martha, and Elizabeth (Liz). They spent the majority of their married lifetime in Des Moines where Scott was employed as a furniture maker, a textile factory worker, an employee of Jim’s Johns, and a lawnmower assembly worker. In April, 2009, Scott and Mary came to make their home in Albert City. They spent the last year of his life in Cherokee, Iowa.
Scott’s special interests included playing pool and darts, bowling, and working on his cars. Scott’s family was a very important part of his life.
Scott’s life is celebrated by his family which includes his wife, Mary, of Albert City, Iowa; his children: Matthew, of Altoona, Iowa, and Martha and Liz, both of Albert City, Iowa; his grandchildren: Alex, Julius, Jesse, Joshua, Lacey, Lexi, Laninnie, Makinzie, and Raine; his brother, Barry Lee Blakeley; and two sisters, Sheri Street and Sandy Baker; as well as other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 28, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
