November 15, 1920 - August 20, 2012

Darel Heschke, the son of Charlie and Bessie Moriarty Heschke, was born on November 15, 1920, in Buena Vista County, Iowa. He spent his childhood years in and around Truesdale, Iowa, where he received his education. After completing his schooling, Darel worked for Everett Anderson helping on the farm.

On August 16, 1941, Darel married Alberta Sanders in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed near Alta, Iowa. On March 12, 1945, Darel enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served during World War II until his honorable discharge on November 15, 1946. Following his military service, Darel and Alberta farmed for Nathan Anderson for many years. Eventually, they purchased a farm north of Alta where they farmed and raised hogs, cattle, and chickens.

Darel enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and driving around the countryside. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
