Elaine Johnson, 85, of Fort Dodge, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012, at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center.

Elaine Mary Sedlon was born on October 27, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was raised and educated in Lansing, Michigan, where she graduated from high school. She, then, earned a two-year degree from Michigan State University.

On July 12, 1948, Elaine married Eugene Johnson in Bay City, Michigan. She worked various jobs until they established their home in Storm Lake. There she served as administrative assistant for her husband, Gene, as he worked as Agency Manager for State Farm. In 1979, the couple moved to their lake home in Okoboji where she continued to assist Gene. Elaine also volunteered at the Spirit Lake Hospital and at their church. After retiring, the couple wintered in Arizona and moved to Fort Dodge in 2008. A gentle, kind-hearted lady, Elaine enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, and reading.

Elaine is survived by her son, Brent, and his wife, Diana, of Fort Dodge; her daughters, Beth Trickel, and her husband, Bruce, of Albany, Georgia, and Anita Behrens, of Poulsbo, Washington; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Laqua Sedlon, and by her husband, Eugene.

Visitation: Monday, August 20, 2012, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at 10:30 am at the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Rev. Allen Henderson officiating.
Burial: 4:00 PM, Tuesday, at the Okoboji Cemetery in Arnolds Park, Iowa.

The Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.

Memorials: Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
