Donald Pearson
April 10, 1927 - May 7, 2012Don Pearson, age 85, of Golden Valley, Minnesota, formerly of Albert City, passed away May 7, 2012, at his home.
Donald James Pearson was born April 10, 1927, to Jim and Alice (Larson) Pearson in Albert City. He was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City and graduated from Albert City High School in 1944. After attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for one year, he served stateside in the United States Army from June 1945 to November 1946. He then attended and graduated from North Park Seminary in Chicago.
On June 14, 1950, Don married Dorothy Carlson in Warren, Minnesota. They were blessed with three children, Dave, Cindy, and Joan.
Don was a retired pastor, having served several Covenant churches in St. Paul, Minnesota, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Portland, Oregon, Sioux City, and Fairfield, Ohio. He also served as chaplain at Mt. Miguel Covenant Home in San Diego, California. Upon retiring, Don and Dorothy moved to Covenant Village in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
Don will be remembered for his quiet strength and gentle spirit.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; his son, David (Jan) Erickson-Pearson, of Centennial, Colorado; his daughters, Cindy (Tim) Hawkinson, of Boulder Junction, Wisconsin, and Joan (Jay Schmitt), of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Stephen and Kristen Hawkinson; Kaia and Annika Erickson-Pearson; and Noah Pearson Schmitt. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Skog, of Albert City, and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Harvey Skog.
Memorial services were held May 10, 2012, at Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton, Minnesota. Inurnment will be at the Fairfield Cemetery, Albert City, at a later date.
