Jack Zadow, age 61, of Albert City, Iowa, passed away on April 26, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Jack was born on August 27, 1950, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Luther and Eldora (Ehlers) Zadow. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake.

Growing up, Jack attended grade school at Zion Lutheran Parochial School in rural Storm Lake and later graduated from Albert City-Truesdale High School in 1968. He participated in 4H, FFA, Football, Teenage Republicans, and as a member of the first wrestling team at AC-T. Following high school graduation, he attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and was in the Young Republicans. Jack married Christine Pratt at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Albert City, on October 11, 1997.

In the 1970s, Jack owned and operated the Service Printing Co. of Waterloo, Iowa. In 1980, he began his “Political Career” as the Financial Director of the Republican State Central Committee of Iowa. He went east in 1982 to become the Financial Director of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee and, then, Executive Director in 1987.

From then on, Jack transitioned to working full-time as a fund raising consultant to the GOP and to conservative, traditional values, low tax rates, and free market organizations. Clients ranged from state candidates to the current presidential candidate (Mitt Romney 2008, 2012). He was the National Finance Director for presidential hopefuls Pete du Pont (1988) and Morry Taylor (1996). He co-founded the political consulting firm Groundswell Direct with offices in Albert City and Jefferson, Iowa.

Jack had a wide variety of interests. A history buff interested in the NASA Space Shuttle Program as well as World War I and World War II posters, he helped organize the World War II Veteran Honor Flight for Albert City Veterans. He enjoyed traveling across the USA on roads less traveled. He also enjoyed reading, studying geology, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. He treasured sharing his life with his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his step-daughter, Natalie Torres, of Sioux City, Iowa; his brother, Kevin (Marilyn) Zadow, of Aurelia, Iowa; his sisters, Vivienne Erie, of Spencer, Iowa, Violette Henningson, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Valerie (Tom) Lichter, of Newell, Iowa; his nieces and nephews: Kurt (Kari) Rosentrater, Ryan (Karen) Rosentrater, Carrie (Matt) Pruett, Jennifer (Matt) Pitkin, Elliott Zadow, Michael (Abbie) Stull, Rachel (Mark) Saunders, Wesley Henningson, Nathan (Stephanie) Lichter, Andrew Lichter, and Audrey Lichter; as well as extended family and many friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Eldora Zadow; his brother, Lynn Zadow; and his nephew, Matthew Erie.

Visitation: 2:00-8:00 p.m., April 29, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., April 30, 2012, at the Church of Christ in Alta, Iowa.
Interment: April 30, 2012, at the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City, Iowa.
