Roger L. Strock, age 74, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died after a sixteen month long battle with cancer on Monday, February 20, 2012, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Roger Leroy Strock was born April 22, 1937, in Storm Lake, the son of Alfred Valentine and Grace Ellen (Newell) Strock. He attended schools in Sulphur Springs, graduating from Providence High School in 1955.

On February 23, 1958, Roger married Elizabeth Ann Schmidt at the Methodist Church in Nemaha, Iowa. This union was blessed with three children: Nancy, Julie, and Scott.

Over the years, Roger maintained a very active life. He was engaged in farming as well as many other jobs. His employment included working at the canning factory, Steig Construction, Gilsted Construction, Vilas Feed Mill, Hy-Grade, Aalfs Manufacturing, Merrill Manufacturing and the Storm Lake Parks Department. Additionally, Roger was an owner of a mobile home court, and in 1980, he began his own construction company. After retirement, he continued to stay busy, working maintenance at Paradise Park.

Roger enjoyed camping, car shows, threshing bees, antiquing, and traveling. He was the proud owner of a 1/16th scale John Deere toy collection and Maytag gas engine displays. Above all else, Roger loved and cherished his family and the time they spent together.

Those left to cherish Roger's memory are his wife, Ann Strock, of Storm Lake; his children: Nancy (Duane) Eiklenborg, of Lakeside, Iowa, Julie Wadsley, (fiancé, Rick Peterson) of Alta, Iowa, and Scott Strock, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his grandchildren: Kory Dean (Jodi Woods), Jeremy Wadsley, Niki and Mark Anderson, Cassy and Jeremy Struthers, and Amberlee Galvin; and his great grandchildren: Brooke, Bryce, Kati, Kendra, and Jake; as well as extended family and many friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Grace Strock; his parents-in-law, Lyle and Mamie Schmidt; his grandparents, John and Eugenia Strock and John and Ethel Newell.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. February 24, 2012, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., February 25, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: February 25, 2012, at the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
