May 13, 1934 - February 3, 2012

Leota M. "Lee" Raymond, 77, of Show Low, Arizona, died unexpectedly February 3, 2012, at the Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Arizona, as the result of a medical condition.

Lee Raymond was born May 13, 1934, in Marathon, to Leo H. and Ruby (Hutchinson) Meyer. She spent her early years in the Storm Lake area where she married LaVerne Leon Schossow (now deceased). They were blessed with three daughters and one son: Lenona, LaVerne "Skip," LaVonne, and LuAnn. She was also blessed with another daughter, Michele Nielson. She later moved to Broomfield, Colorado, in 1968 where she resided for forty years before moving to Show Low, Arizona, in early 2009. On December 16, 1987, she married Douglas Raymond. Their marriage lasted for the next last twenty-four years.

Since 1968, Lee had been a Charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary Post 9565 in Broomfield, Colorado. She served as State Auxiliary President from 1996-1997 and in various other capacities within her Post, including Auxiliary President. Her favorite pastime was performing with the VFW Women's Auxiliary Color Guard. She also enjoyed traveling across the United States with her husband in their motorhome. In her earlier years, she bowled on several different bowling leagues in Broomfield, Colorado. She had a passion for reading and enjoyed using her new Kindle.

Lee is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Raymond, of Show Low, Arizona; four daughters: Lenona Raymond of Aurora, Colorado, LaVerne "Skip" (Sheila) Schossow, of Sioux City; LaVonne Gissal, of Brookfield, Wisconsin, LuAnn (Michael) Wineinger, of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Michele Nielson, of Pueblo, Colorado; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two nieces: Sandy (Rick) Anderson, of Spencer, and Sharon (Stephen) Cooper, of Battle Creek, Michigan; and two nephews; Silas Chalfant, of Lakeland, Florida, and Paul Chalfant, of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Leo H. and Ruby Meyer; her sister, Wilma (Chalfant) Meyer; her brother-in-law, Don Chalfant; and a son-in-law, Richard Raymond.

Funeral services were held on February 17, 2012, in a chapel at the Fort Logan National Cemetery (Staging Area B), John Holland, Chaplin for the National VFW, officiating. Internment was at the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Englewood, Colorado.
