Beverly Peterson
November 4, 1931 - February 29, 2012

Beverly Ann Peterson, age 80, of Alta, passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center of Storm Lake.

Beverly Ann (Munz) Peterson was born November 4, 1931, to Edward and Grace (Christie) Munz. She graduated from Alta High School in 1949. On August 14, 1949, she married Harold Peterson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta.

A homemaker, Bev made her family the center of her life. She looked forward to large family gatherings when she made holidays special for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren by the love she put into not only the meal, but also every aspect of the holiday. Anyone coming to her house always had plenty of good food and hospitality. Very active in church, she taught Sunday school for many years and served as a member of the Ladies Aid Society. Bev also enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels with her husband.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Peterson; her daughter, Kathy Fahr; her brothers-in-law, LaVerne Peterson and Mel Hawke; and her sister-in-law, Darlene Phebus.

Bev is survived by her children Dan Peterson, of Alta, Vicky (Jeff) Lower, of Carroll, Scott (Peg) Peterson, of Ogden, Cindy (Joe) Scheuring, of Defiance, Terry (Roxanne) Peterson, of Alta, and Rick Peterson, also of Alta; her grandchildren, Melissa Fahr, Nicole (Heath) Staedtler, Jonathan (Eliza) Lower, Adam Peterson, Eric Peterson, Molly Peterson, Tiffany Scheuring, Liz (Nick) Wahlberg, Jennifer (Ben) Seel, Carmen Scheuring, Amanda Scheuring, Joe Rascon, Kelsie Peterson, Lily Peterson, Mason Peterson, Christopher Peterson, Jeremy Peterson, and Stephanie Peterson; nine great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Joe Wagner; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Hawke and Janice Peterson; a brother-in-law, John Phebus; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Alta with the Rev. Craig Cummins officiating. Burial will be in the Scandinavian Cemetery of Alta. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta is in charge of the arrangements.
