Sarah Jane Dublinske
July 16, 1922 - January 22, 2005After a lingering illness, Jane Dublinske passed away Saturday, January 22, 2005, at Bethany Manor at the age of 82.
Sarah Jane Dublinske was born July 16, 1922, near Breda to John and Louise (Byerlye) Elias. She graduated from high school in Lake View. After marrying Leo Carl Dublinske, she moved to Storm Lake. Jane and her family lived on an acreage outside of town. She worked for the DOT Driver's License Bureau for a number of years. In the summer of 1990, several years after losing her husband, she moved to Roland to be near her daughter, Marty. She moved to Bethany Manor in the spring of 2004.
Jane played a special part in the lives of many people, sharing her many talents with them. A 4-H leader for many years, she also enjoyed cooking, quilting, and socializing with her neighbors. In addition, she enjoyed nature, flower gardening, and listening to music. One of her greatest loves was her family. Very proud of her three grandchildren and her great granddaughter, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She also cherished special relationships with her nieces and nephews. A loyal supporter of all her family members, she took a strong interest in their activities. Her Boston terrier bulldog, Cuddles, was her constant companion.
Jane is survived by one brother, Charles Elias (Myrtle), of Washington; a sister-in-law, Anne Elias, of Ida Grove; one daughter, Marty Van Winkle (Kerry), of Roland; three grandchildren, Holly Van Winkle, of Story City, Kris Vinson (Mike), of Roland, and Kyle Van Winkle, of Ames; one great granddaughter, Dana Vinson, of Roland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo Dublinske; her son, Marc Dublinske; two brothers, Harold (Pal) Elias and Elmer Elias; and a sister, Evelyn Groppe.
Funeral services for Sarah Jane Dublinske were Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethany Manor in Story City. Burial was at the Buena Vista Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Soderstrum Funeral Home in Sac City was in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
