Bonnie Carter passed away on January 7, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 11 days.

Bonnie Jean Carter was born on May 27, 1934, to Eugene and Bernice (Carpenter) Anderson in Alta. She graduated from Fairview High School.

Bonnie married Melvin Carter on October 8, 1966, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta. This union was blessed with seven sons, Steve, Lynn, Tim, Marty, Tony, Terry, and Aubrey, and two daughters, Tammy and Lesley.

Bonnie worked for over thirty years in the purchasing department at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed camping, deer hunting with family, and wintering with friends in Brownsville, Texas. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and her dog, Angel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin, on September 18, 1983; one brother, Larry Anderson; one niece, Wendy Anderson; and one grandnephew, Trevor Anderson.

Bonnie is survived by her seven sons: Steve Carter, of Cedar Rapids, Lynn Carter, of Alburnett, Tim Carter, and his wife, Susan, of Kansas City, Missouri, Marty Carter, of Marion, Tony Carter, and his wife, Sylvia, of Frankfurt, West Germany, Terry Carter, and his wife, Kathleen, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Aubrey Carter; two daughters, Tammy Ellis, and her husband, Skeet, of Roseville, California, and Lesley Renfer, of Marion; fourteen grandchildren, Larry, Gene, Dean, Allen, Andy, Joshua, Shane, Jacquie, Bonnie, Marc, Michael, JoAnn, Kristine, and Xavier; four great-grandchildren, Lilly, Katlyn, Bella, and Kimberly; her beloved dog, Angel; and one brother, Bruce Anderson, and his wife, Donna, of Spirit Lake.

Private family services for Bonnie Carter will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2005, at the Barker Funeral Home in Alta with Pastor Craig Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Township Cemetery in Alta.
