Kenneth F. Boese, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Thursday, December 8, 2011, at his home in rural Storm Lake.

Kenneth Frederick Boese was born on December 29, 1928, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Henry and Lena (Kischer) Boese. In 1929, he was baptized and later confirmed in 1942 at St. John's United Church of Christ in rural Newell, Iowa. Kenneth attended school at Grant Township and Lincoln Lee Schools.

On February 2, 1951, Kenneth was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the Ordnance Corps. He was honorably discharged on February 1, 1953.

Shortly after his military discharge, on March 1, 1953, Kenneth married Jeanette Caroline Kruse at St. John's United Church of Christ. This union was blessed with two children: Becky Ann and Keith Mark.

Kenneth remained a devoted, life-long member of St. John's United Church of Christ. A member of the Building Committee and of the Men's Brotherhood, he also served as Trustee and President. In addition, he was a member of the Storm Lake AMVETS Post 66.

As a proud farmer, Kenneth took great pride over the years in his farm and livestock. He enjoyed playing pool (especially Snooker), fishing (Oregon fishing trips), dancing the Waltz and Polka, and watching baseball games of his beloved Chicago Cubs. Above all else, Kenneth loved and cherished his family and took great interest in watching his grandchildren in their activities. He will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Those left to cherish Kenneth include his wife of 58 years, Jeanette Boese, of Storm Lake; his children: Becky (Tom) Pape, of Corvallis, Oregon, and Keith (Joni) Boese, of Storm Lake; his grandchildren: Andrew, Samuel, and Sally Pape as well as Joshua and Jeremy Boese; his nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, and many friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Lena Boese; his parents-in-law, Fred and Hattie Kruse; his sister, Beulah Lullmann; and his brothers-in-law: Dick Lullmann, Roger Olson, and Phil Betz.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m., December 11, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., December 12, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Interment: December 12, 2011, at St. John's Church of Christ Cemetery in rural Newell, Iowa.
