Mark C. Johnson, age 59, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died October 17, 2011, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Mark was born August 2, 1952, in Alta, Iowa, the son of Craig and Annette (Anderson) Johnson. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Alta and later confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake.

Growing up, Mark attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1970. Following graduation, Mark attended Buena Vista University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education in 1974.

Mark started working for the Storm Lake Register and later for the Alta Advertiser. Until a few years ago, Mark worked for the Sioux City Journal as an area correspondent. In his spare time, he loved reading and cooking.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Kent Johnson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his aunts, Enid Peters, Janet Chive, and Coke Anderson; as well as extended family and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; his uncles, Edgar Johnson; Keith Anderson, Leland “Jim” Anderson, Marvin Anderson, LaVerne Peters, and Reg Chive.

Visitation: 12:00-2:00 p.m., October 21, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m., October 21, 2011, at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Interment: October 21, 2011, at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
