John Prichard, age 76, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died October 12, 2011, at his home in Storm Lake.
John William Prichard was born March 3, 1935, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of James S. and Mary Fern (McMurtry) Prichard. As a child, he was first baptized and then later confirmed at the Storm Lake United Methodist Church. Growing up, he attended school at Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1953. After high school graduation, John attended Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business in 1957.
On December 28, 1957, John married Carol Fuller in Sioux City, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Anne, John Michael, and Molly.
In 1957, John enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country for two years before he was honorably discharged in 1959. After his discharge, John came back to Storm Lake and went into business with his father at Prichard Supply.
John was a member of the Rotary Club and Bridge Club. His entire life, he was also an active member of the Storm Lake United Methodist Church.
In his later years, John enjoyed history and traveling the world. He enjoyed camping and playing games with his grandchildren and other family members. He treasured family gathering and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carol Prichard, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children: Anne (Dirk) Bowman, of Gering, Nebraska, John Michael Prichard, of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Molly (Rob) Lopez, of Denver, Colorado; his grandchildren: Matt Bowman, Tyler (Anna) Goswick, Alicia (Dan) Sisel, Erika Bowman, Francesca Lopez, and Genevieve Lopez; and his brothers: James M. (Eloise) Prichard, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Philip (Delaine) Prichard, of Davenport, Iowa; as well as nieces; nephews; and other extended family members and many friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Prichard.
Visitation: 5-7:00 p.m. October 16, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. October 17, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: October 17, 2011, at the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
