January 11, 1922 - July 31, 2011Pauline E. Leidahl, age 89, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died July 31, 2011, at her home in Sioux Rapids.
Pauline Eunice Fast, the daughter of Dewey and Bessie (Renner) Fast, was born on January 11, 1922, in Buckeye, Iowa. She received her education at Sioux Rapids and was a graduate of Sioux Rapids High School.
On July 1, 1940, Pauline married Richard Leidahl at Sioux Rapids, Iowa. This couple was blessed with six children. Richard and Pauline spent their married lifetime farming in the Sioux Rapids vicinity. They purchased their current farm in 1953, making it their home since 1954. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Pauline also worked alongside Richard on the farm becoming very involved in the farming operation.
Pauline will be remembered as an avid reader and a dedicated supporter of the Sioux Rapids library. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening. She made a beautiful quilt as a high school graduation gift for each of her grandchildren. From their dating days until beyond their 50th anniversary, Pauline and Richard loved to dance. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church of Sioux Rapids. All who knew Pauline will remember her as a woman of deep and abiding faith. She left a wonderful legacy to her family as she encouraged them to be inquisitive and to continue to learn no matter how old they were. She will always be loved, honored and cherished by her family.
Survivors include her children: Janet Tryon, of Ogden, Iowa, Lorraine (Robert) Rippe, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Marilyn (Ray) Sealing, of Camp Verde, Arizona, Roy (Janel) Leidahl, of Monroe Center, Illinois, Glenda (Paul) Hawkins, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Todd (Diana) Leidahl of Plymouth, Minnesota; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister, Marian Wardlow, of Green Valley, Arizona; as well as other family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard, in November, 2000; two brothers: Clarence and Homer; and a son-in-law, Larry Tryon.
Memorials may be given in Pauline’s memory to be used at the discretion of her family.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at the First Lutheran Church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
