JoAnn Marie Steck, age 70, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

JoAnn Marie was born on October 22, 1940, to Greeno and Margaret (Peltz) Faine in Fort Dodge, Iowa. As an infant, she was baptized into the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge where she was also confirmed in 1954. Growing up, JoAnn attended grade school in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1958. After high school, she furthered her education at the Fort Dodge Junior College.

On June 20, 1959, JoAnn was united in marriage to Sidney Allen Steck at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge. This union was blessed with three children: Kirk Allen, Kelli Jo, and Kevin Lee.

JoAnn worked in Sidney’s Chiropractic Office as an assistant and taught aerobic classes at the Senior Center, Church, and Fitness Center. Active in the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake, she served as an elder and was part of the Stephens Ministry. JoAnn was a member of PEO and the Lake Creek Country Club.

JoAnn treasured all the times she was able to spend with family, grandchildren, and friends. She also enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and socializing with her birthday group. JoAnn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Sidney Steck, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Kelli (Todd) Mulder, of Granger, Iowa, and Kevin (Gloria) Steck, of Torrance, California; her grandchildren: Kody Mulder, Taylor Mulder, Ryan Steck, and Hailey Steck; her mother, Margaret Faine (Frank) Glaser; her brothers: Dr. Jim (Jan) Faine, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Dr. John (Amy) Faine, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and her sister, Janet (Will) Zabel, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; as well as extended family and many friends.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her son, Kirk Steck, and father, Greeno Faine.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., July 28, 2011, at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Visitation: 4:30 - 8:00 p.m., July 27, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: July 28, 2011, at the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
