Joseph Hoye, age 58, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died June 29, 2011, at his home.

Joseph T. Hoye was born December 8, 1952, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Mary E. (Kelly) Hoye. Growing up, Joe attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Storm Lake, graduating from high school there in 1971.

Following his high school graduation, Joe attended Western Iowa Technical College where he studied Law Enforcement.

Joe served in the Iowa National Guard for many years starting in 1972.

On June 1, 1974, Joe married Connie Gard at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Paul, Keith, and Melissa.

Joe was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake where he was a Eucharistic Minister. A member of the Storm Lake Police Officers Association, he also served on the Storm Lake Police Department from 1974 to 1998 when he retired with the rank of Captain.

Joe enjoyed working hard and, in his spare time, helping his brother farm. He also owned and operated Hoye Trucking. He treasured his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He made time for his family, especially taking his children fishing while they were growing up. Moreover, Joe loved playing cards and socializing with his friends as well. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Connie Hoye, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children: Paul (Jill) Hoye, of Fairmont, Minnesota, Keith (Nicole) Hoye, of Osceola, Iowa, and Melissa (Luke) Letzring, of Oskaloosa, Iowa; his grandchildren: Taylor, Kaleb, Josiah and Adelyn, Cooper, and Samantha Hoye; his mother, Mary E. Hoye; his brothers: Jim (Mic) Hoye, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and Pat (Renee) Hoye, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; his sisters: Elaine Hoye, of Yankton, South Dakota, and Rose (Sid) Davis, of Havelock, Iowa; as well as extended family and many friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Hoye, and his grandparents.

Visitation: 3:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m., July 1, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., July 2, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Vigil Service: 7:00 p.m., July 1, 2011, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: July 2, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
