Helen "Polly" Elkin
July 2, 1939 - June 9, 2011Polly died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at her home in Urbandale.
Helen Marie Elkin, a daughter of Irwin and Helen (Fairchild) Powell, was born July 2, 1939, in Linn Grove. She was a graduate of Spirit Lake High School. In 1959, Polly married Edward Elkin and had son, David, in 1960. She helped with Edward's chiropractic business, and most recently worked at Hobby Lobby. Polly enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing.
Polly is survived by her son, David (Andrea) Elkin, of Indianola; her grandchildren: Steffanie, Aaron, and Cortney; her two brothers, Kirwin Powell, and Dick (Karolyn) Powell; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; and her sister, Nelda Meinking.
Funeral services were Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Merle Hay Funeral Home.
