March 24, 1917 - June 4, 2011

Thelma Reynolds, age 94, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and formerly of Marathon, Iowa, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Thelma Katherine Fox, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Helmcamp) Fox, was born in Grandy, Nebraska, on March 24, 1917. Thelma lived her youth on a farm near Garfield Table, Nebraska, and received her education in Arnold, Nebraska, where she graduated from high school.

On June 2, 1936, Thelma married Bernard Reynolds in Stapleton, Nebraska. This couple was blessed with two children: Morris and Joan. During their married lifetime, Thelma and Bernard lived in Stapleton, Broken Bow, and Tilden, Nebraska, before moving to Marathon, Iowa, in 1980. Bernard died in1989. Later moving to Storm Lake, Iowa, Thelma had made her home at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community since March 17, 2004.

An avid reader, Thelma also had a talent for sewing. Concerned about getting enough exercise, Thelma enjoyed walking as much as five miles a day, even in her later years.

Thelma’s life will always be celebrated and honored by her children: Joan and Bob Anderson, of Marathon, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Peg Reynolds, of Lincoln, Nebraska; her grandchildren: Chad (Kim) Anderson, Bobbi (Darren) Epperson, Lacey (T.J.) Schmidt, Sandy Reynolds, Kay (John) Connelley, Josh Reynolds, and Molly Reynolds; her great grandchildren: Emma and Sam Connelley, Alex and Amanda Epperson, and Amaya and Gabrielle Garrett; and her brother, Ben (MaryAnn) Fox, of Arnold, Nebraska; as well as other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard; her son, Morris; and three brothers: Bill, Walter and Cyrus.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon. Burial will be in the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
