Maynard V. Beal
September 7, 1933 - October 15, 2004

Maynard V. Beal, age 71, of Linn Grove, died Friday, October 15, 2004, at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids.

Maynard Vernon Beal was born September 7, 1933, to Orville and Grace (Roach) Beal in Kirkland, Illinois. While living his parents in Linn Grove, he attended grade school.

On April 2, 1953, Maynard entered the U.S. Army. During his time in the military, he attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged on April 1, 1955.

Maynard married Barbara Ensley in November of 1959. Together, they raised five children: Cinda, Glenda, Jim, Bob, and Rich. A man who possessed a loving and generous heart, he was always thinking of others.

A professional truck driver for thirty-three years, Maynard also operated the Land O'Lakes Felco Service Station in Linn Grove for six years before retiring in 1984. He greatly enjoyed restoring old tractors and loved old cars. When he was not tinkering on his tractors and cars, he could be found talking on the phone or out taking a leisurely drive. Maynard was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove.

Survivors include his sons: Jim Beal, and his wife, Dennice, of Newell, Bob Beal, and his wife, Mary, of Storm Lake, and Rich Sassman, and his wife, Sherrie, of Storm Lake; his daughters: Cinda Ekstrom, of Custer, South Dakota, and Glenda Struve, and her husband, Tom, of Rembrandt; his grandchildren: Shane Hauchen, Tanya Gaer, and her husband, Greg, Danial Ekstrom, Brant Struve, Tara Nielsen, Jessica Vanschepen, and her husband, Cody, Nathan Beal, and his wife, Heather, Brian Beal, and his fiancée, Angie Nieland, Brice Beal and his special friend, Kristen Vogel, Gregg Ries, Dylan Sassman, and Dalton Sassman; his great-grandchildren: Hanna Nielsen, Rilyn Nielsen, Josh Feltner, Cole Feltner, Mackenzie Struve, Spencer Beal, Kenley Nieland, Harley Ries, Grace Gaer, Grant Gaer, Ryan Hauchen, Jessica Hauchen, Danny Hauchen; his brothers: David Beal, and his wife, Betty, of Spencer, and Joel Beal, and his wife, Lisa, of Arlington, Texas; his sisters: Christy Ehl, and her husband, Dan, of Mystic, and JoAnn Schroeder, of Tomah, Wisconsin; his step-mother, Veta Beal, of Corning; his uncle, Maynard Beal, and his wife, Lucille, of Independence, Missouri, and Dennis Weidner, and his wife, Kim, of Gulf Port, Florida; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Preceding Maynard in death were his parents, Orville and Grace Beal; his brother, Harold Nordin; and his sister, Marion Hedingar.

Funeral services for Maynard Beal were held Monday, October 18, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove under the direction of the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids.
